Terms of Service
Last updated: 3 August 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and ECE Publicidade e Propaganda ("Sumzy", "we", "us") for the Sumzy app and the service behind it. By creating an account or using Sumzy, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Who can use Sumzy
You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to enter a binding contract where you live. You are responsible for everything done through your account. Sign-in is passwordless — a one-time email code, Sign in with Apple, or Google Sign-In — so keep access to your email account secure.
What Sumzy does, and what it does not do
Sumzy records shared expenses and calculates who owes whom, per currency. It is a record-keeping tool.
Sumzy never moves money. We do not process payments, hold funds, issue credit, or act as a payment institution. Marking a debt as settled records that you told us it was settled — it does not transfer anything. Any actual payment happens outside Sumzy, between you and the other person, and any dispute about it is between you and them.
Sumzy is not financial, tax, or legal advice.
Your content
You keep ownership of what you enter — group names, expense descriptions, amounts, and your display name. You grant us only the permission we need to run the service: to store your content, and to show it to the other members of the groups you share it with.
Remember that a shared expense is shared: everything you put in a group is visible to that group's members, and stays visible to them for the group's history even after you leave or delete your account (in anonymized form — see the Privacy Policy).
Community rules — no tolerance for abuse
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour on Sumzy. When you enter text that other people will see — a group name, an expense description, your display name — you must not include:
- harassment, threats, bullying, or intimidation of any person;
- hate speech or attacks based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or age;
- sexually explicit material, or any content that sexualises a minor;
- content that promotes violence, self-harm, terrorism, or illegal activity;
- other people's private information shared without their consent;
- spam, scams, fraudulent charges, or impersonation of anyone else;
- malware, or anything that attacks or degrades the service.
You also must not add someone to a group in order to harass them.
Reporting and blocking
If you see content or behaviour that breaks these rules:
- Report it from inside the app, or email support@sumzy.co.
- Block the person — a blocked user can no longer add you to any group. Manage everyone you have blocked in Account → Blocked people.
- Leave the group at any time.
We review every report and act within 24 hours. We remove content that breaks these rules and we remove the users who post it — accounts that harass others are terminated, not warned. Reports are reviewed by a person, and we may act on a violation whether or not it was reported.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms, that is used to abuse another person, or that puts the service or its users at risk. You can stop using Sumzy and delete your account at any time — see the account deletion page.
Availability and changes
We work to keep Sumzy running and correct, but the service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We may change or discontinue features. To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that cannot be waived — including, in Brazil, the Código de Defesa do Consumidor.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that materially affects you, we will let you know in the app or by email before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Sumzy after that means you accept the new terms.
Languages
These terms are published in several languages for your convenience. The English version is the authoritative text; if a translation and the English version conflict, the English version governs. This does not limit any right you have under your local law to rely on a translation.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Brazil, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and subject to any mandatory protections of the country where you live.
